Two New Books!
It’s Been So Long
Family and friends, good morning!
I am writing today to make you one of the very first people to find out that my next two books are finally up for preorder on Amazon.
In mid-2019, I had become fed up with the lack of work I was producing after completing my first novel, Penny. To bring that drought to a stop, I had forced myself to write every single day for 214 days straight (from where my frustrations boiled over, to the end of the year). That was an incredibly successful experiment looking back at it — I got a lot of fresh writing done.
That August, I started a story following a teenaged boy who was traversing an enchanted forest, where he came across a pair of magical women who grew out of a sequoia tree. I had named it Project Blue at the time, but on Day 78 of 214, I renamed it The Witches of Sequoia and proceeded to tweet the following: “let me tell you guys, I’m really freakin’ excited about this one!”
My excitement for that short story, which I completed on August 24, 2019, did not fade. For NaNoWriMo ‘19, I added over 50,000 words to that story. Then, in January ‘20, I started from scratch, rewriting what I already had, and never looked back. The first draft of Wardens of the Warlock was completed on May 19, 2020. I did not finish editing it until January of this year (yes, January ‘23).
Anyway, I’ve talked enough. It’s been a long road. I’m so relieved that this novel, the first of a trilogy, is finally ready to see a bookshelf. Now, I need to move my attention to its sequel, because that book is going up for preorder today as well. I have five months to edit it and release it into the world. I’ve given myself a publisher’s deadline.
